چکیده

In the age of JWST, temperate terrestrial exoplanets transiting nearby late-type M dwarfs provide unique opportunities for characterising their atmospheres, as well searching biosignature gases. We report here discovery and validation two super-Earths LP 890-9 (TOI-4306, SPECULOOS-2), a relatively low-activity (32 pc) M6V star. The inner planet, 890-9b, was first detected by TESS (and identified TOI-4306.01) based on four sectors data. Intensive photometric monitoring system with SPECULOOS Southern Observatory then led to second outer 890-9c (also SPECULOOS-2c), previously undetected TESS. orbital period this planet later confirmed MuSCAT3 follow-up observations. With mass 0.118$\pm$0.002 $M_\odot$, radius 0.1556$\pm$0.0086 $R_\odot$, an effective temperature 2850$\pm$75 K, is second-coolest star found host planets, after TRAPPIST-1. has 2.73 d, $1.320_{-0.027}^{+0.053}$ $R_\oplus$, receives incident stellar flux 4.09$\pm$0.12 $S_\oplus$. similar size $1.367_{-0.039}^{+0.055}$ $R_\oplus$ 8.46 d. 0.906 $\pm$ 0.026 $S_\oplus$, it located within conservative habitable zone, very close its limit. Although masses planets remain be measured, we estimated potential atmospheric characterisation via transmission spectroscopy using mass-radius relationship that, TRAPPIST-1 second-most favourable habitable-zone known so far. remarkable offers another rare opportunity study around our smallest coolest neighbours.

The MEarth project: searching for transiting habitable super-Earths around nearby M-dwarfs

Due to their small radii, M-dwarfs are very promising targets to search for transiting super-Earths, with a planet of 2 Earth radii orbiting an M5 dwarf in the habitable zone giving rise to a 0.5% photometric signal, with a period of two weeks. This can be detected from the ground using modest-aperture telescopes by targeting samples of nearby M-dwarfs. Such planets would be very amenable to fo...

Rapid Formation of Super-Earths around M Dwarf Stars

While the recent microlensing discoveries of super-Earths orbiting two M dwarf stars have been taken as support for the core accretion mechanism of giant planet formation, we show here that these planets could also have been formed by the competing mechanism of disk instability, coupled with photoevaporative loss of their gaseous envelopes by a strong external source of UV radiation, i.e., an O...

Two nearby M dwarf binaries from 2 MASS

We report the discovery of two binary M dwarf systems in the immediate solar neighborhood using 2MASS. The first is an M6.5 companion to the nearby G star HD 86728 (Gl 376). The known properties of HD 86728 indicate that the M dwarf (Gl 376B) is old, metal-rich and only 14.9 parsecs away. The M dwarf is highly active with both Hα and X-ray emission. Thus, Gl 376B offers the opportunity to study...

Deep infrared imaging and spectroscopy of the nearby late M - dwarf

We obtained deep Hand K-band images of DENIS-P J104814−395606 using SofI and the speckle camera SHARP-I at the ESO-3.5m-NTT as well as QUIRC at the Mauna Kea 2.2m telescope between December 2000 and June 2001. The target was recently discovered as nearby M9-dwarf among DENIS sources (Delfosse et al. 2001). We detect parallactic motion on our images and determine the distance to be 4.6 ± 0.3 pc,...
